Speed up your Access Database with the Microsoft Access Performance Analyzer
The Performance Analyzer, provides suggestions on how to optimise the performance of your Access database. With the database that you want to analyse open, click Tools > Analyze > Performance in Access 2003 or Database Tools Ribbon > Analyze Performance in Access 2007
The Performance Analyzer lets you choose which objects you want to analyse. You can select tables, queries, forms, reports, macros, modules or relationships to analyse, or you can select all objects using the Select All button. Access grades its results as recommendations, suggestions or ideas.
When you click an item in the result list, access provides notes to help you optimise this aspect of your database. Suggestion optimisations have potential trade-offs that you should consider before performing them. To view a description of the trade-offs, click on a Suggestion optimisation in the list, and then read the notes. Access can perform Recommendation and Suggestion optimisations automatically for you, but you must perform Idea optimisations yourself.
To ask Access to perform Recommendation or Suggestion optimisations, select them from the list (use SHIFT or CRTL to select more than one) and click on the Optimize Button. Or if you want to perform all Recommendation or Suggestion, click Select All, and then click Optimize.
To perform an Idea optimisation, you need to follow the instructions given in the Notes for that Idea.
